About

Aloha! We welcome you to join in cultivating connection with your mind, body and spirit so that you might live life to your fullest potential through the practice of yoga.

Waikoloa Yoga is made up of two teachers: Nana Kawasaki-Jones and Estelle Birch. Part of the year Nana teaches, and part of the year Estelle teaches. Come join!

About Nana:

Nana started practicing yoga when she turned 50 in order to stay flexible for stand up paddling. The flexibility took a while to build up to but in the meantime she was surprised about the sense of calm she felt after practice plus improved posture and an awareness of steady breathing. She is especially drawn to practicing outdoors whenever possible. Sunrise and Full Moonrise yoga on Lanikai beach are some of her favorite places to roll out a mat. After taking two Teacher Trainings in Kailua, Oahu, Nana started assisting another teacher with teen classes, then over time added trainings of Vinyasa Krama with Rod Stryker, Yoga for Every Body with Dianne Bondy, Accessible Yoga with Jivanna Heyman and Restorative Yoga with Chanti Tacorante. As a teacher she seeks to help others thrive by nurturing body, mind and spirit through yoga practice. Her hope is that you step off your mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced. Morning yoga at Paniolo Greens starts with a slow wake up of all your body joints and muscle areas to warm up before moving into yoga postures and a few cooling down positions to complete the hour practice. No experience is necessary to enjoy the benefits of the movement, fresh air and stunning view!

Please join Nana Kawasaki-Jones for a wonderful way to start your day!

About Estelle:

Estelle discovered a passion for yoga at the age of 20. During a challenging time in my life I starting to practice Asanas (postures) regularly. Yoga helped me to heal. I decided to deepen my knowledge and pursue a yoga education, without the intention to become a teacher. However, when the opportunity to teach arose, I decided to do it and I am so very glad I did. My own Asana practice is so beneficial to my health and well-being, I want to share this experience with my community. It was because of practicing yoga Asanas and Pranayamas (breathing techniques) that I realized the tension and discomfort from scoliosis were greatly reduced. It changed my life in a significant positive way and showed me that healing my own body, mind, and spirit was within my own power.

Whether you are looking to rehabilitate a specific injury or physical limitation, to feel more connected to your Dharma (your life’s purpose) or to awaken your spiritual connection, yoga has tools to support you and I am honored to assist you on this journey. Together we will work to bring the body, mind and spirit into balance.

My teacher training began on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii at Hawaiian Healing Yoga with Stacey Lanterman in 2014 where I completed 200 RYT Certification. Since 2015, I have pursued further education in Yoga Therapy with a focus on Scoliosis and physical injury and limitation. In 2015, I trained with Elise Browning Miller in Vancouver, Canada at a Yoga for Scoliosis Workshop. I lead Yoga for Scoliosis Series and workshops as well as private lessons. In 2018, I trained with Katy Benjamin of Big Island Yoga Therapy who has a C-IAYT (Certified International Association of Yoga Therapy) and I am forever grateful for her extensive knowledge and training. Most recently I trained under the guidance of Julie Martin, creator of Brahami Yoga, on level 2 training where we studied sequencing, rounds, new postures, fascia and anatomy. I have been fortunate to train with some amazing teachers that have deepened my knowledge of the healing benefits of Yoga. I am excited to pass on this wisdom and empower my students movement towards balancing their lives both on and off the mat!

If you have any questions please don’t be shy, we’d love to hear from you!

All walks of life, spiritual beliefs, levels and bodies are welcome!
